TFTP-QCIM: Machine Quality Control (QC) Inspector -- Levels I, II, and III

Team member's role and responsibilities:
Level I - Surface plate Inspection
Level II - In Process Inspection
- Surface plate inspection
- In-process inspection
- All inspections shall be monitored by a level II or level III inspector
- Learn and follow safety rules
- Notify metrologist of damaged or dropped gages
- Notify QC supervisor or calibration clerk of gages that are nearing or past due calibration
- Become familiar with TOPs, especially the procedures that relate MOPPP, MOPQC, CALIB, GAGES, MSURE, and RECHK.
Level III - Final Inspection
- First article inspection on machine set up's
- Set up SPC tasks as required by customer or router
- In-process inspection
- Report immediately all out of tolerance dimension to operator, QC level III QC inspector, QC supervisor or production supervisor
- Daily gage and tool verification
- Learn and follow safety rules
- Notify metrologist of damaged or dropped gages
- Notify QC supervisor or calibration clerk of gages that are nearing or part due calibration
- Become familiar with TOPs, especially the procedures that relate MOPPP, MOPQC, CALIB, GAGES, MSURE, and RECHK..
Rookie requirements:
Level I - Surface plate Inspection
Level II - In Process Inspection
- Basic understanding of inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages.
- Basic CMM and comparator training
- Complete training modules, RDNC, QCNH, TRAC, FSAT, and PRTC within 120 days of employment
- Complete visual acuity testing
- Must complete training on geometric tolerance, basic CMM, Digimar heigh gage, and comparator within 60 days of employment
Level III - Final Inspection
- Basic understanding of fractions, decimals, calculate basic geometric tolerance, read and understand blueprints
- Proficiency in using micrometer, calipers, height gages, bore gages and other measuring devices
- Complete AQL training
- Complete training modules MEAS, RDNC, QCNH, PRCP, PRTC, FAIN, STAT, TRAC, and FSAT within 120 days of employment
- Complete visual acuity testing
- Training must be completed within 60 days of employment
- Sufficient experience in the production shop to enable inspection of all parts per blueprints, including in-process and machine first articles.
- Keen sense of observation and an eye for detail
- Sufficient experience to train level I and level II inspectors.
- Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices, including CMM, comparator, Digimar height gage
- Level III inspectors must be able to set-up and run existing CMM programs.
- Proficient enough on the CMM to check diameters, distance, concentricity, roundness, location, flatness, perpendicularity and angles.
- Proficient enough on the comparator to check distance, radii, diameters and angles.
- Complete visual acuity testing
- Complete training modules MATH, MEAS, PRNT, RDNC, FAIN, STAT, TRAC and FSAT within 120 days of employment
- AQL Training
- Calculate basic true position
- Inspect surface finish using the profilometer and comparison blocks
