TFTP-RDRP: Die Preparer (Die Prep)

Coach(es): Die Shop Supervisor, Die Shop Leadman, Die Prep Leadman

Team member's role and responsibilities: 

• Check Shop Schedule and prepare dies for next job on schedule 
• Be able to stamp dies and check dies with blueprints 
• Anticipate special needs for the job and retrieve dies and tooling from storage 
• Label dies and follow storage procedures for easy identification in the future; to impress code letters accurately on dies 
• Anticipate tooling and die needs and be prepared to provide hammer crews with dies needed so that die change can be made efficiently 
• Be available to make minor die repairs or change upon short notice

Rookie requirements: 

• Some familiarity with production shop layout and die storage set-up; at least six months of production shop experience 
• Complete rookie requirements for Die Prep dept

Physical activity involved: 

• Be able to lift parts weighing from a few ounces to 50 pounds; any lifting over 50 pounds use crane or hoist or ask for help. 
• Extensive periods of standing, moderate amount of walking, some stooping and bending from waist.
• Some lifting of heavier dies using a long steel bar for leverage.
