Objective:
bullet Orient Programmer as to characteristics of a forging, Die growth, high wear features, trim lines
bullet Explain pros and cons of different forging features as they relate to fixturing and machining difficulties
bullet Understanding in detail how to use CAD/CAM software
bullet Understanding procedures for tracking production time and methods
bullet Understanding of basic Company principles and terminology
bullet Understanding of paperwork related to Programming
bullet Understanding in detail how to issue and receive assignments
bullet Understanding in detail how to maintain, order and file paperwork
bullet Understanding how to use equipment safely and efficiently
bullet Explain procedures for ordering supplies and tracking time

Syllabus:
bullet Instructor walking employee through machine shop taking advantage of whatever forgings are in production to demonstrate how to determine direction of die growth, features most likely to experience rapid change due to die wear, also how to identify trim lines
bullet Using same parts explaining which features to avoid as fixturing points and why
bullet Introduction to crib attendant and overview of how crib works and locating shop supplies
bullet Instructor walking employee through the Machine Shop and Warehouse explaining how the material is ordered and what the different parts of the process are called
bullet Demonstration of where to find the different paperwork used in programming and how to fill it out and where to file it
bullet Overview of duties outside of programming employee may be called upon to perform
bullet Observe other programmers in action, other programmers observing employee
bullet Inside and outside CAD/CAM training
bullet Using in-process job cards, explain how and why they are to be filled out

Completion: Sign off by instructor that training has been completed and employee expressed understanding
